Since November. Which is strange to think back on now.

It's felt like I've already been here a lifetime.

In the beginning, certainly.

Now I feel as if I understand enough that the day-to-day of it doesn't take by surprise quite as much as it once did.

in the beginning it can take some time getting used to
ive been here for two years or so now so ive made this place my home

You must have seen many people come and go, then.

many people who i came to care about as well
it frankly terrifies me
that everyone i care about here will leave me
or worse
return here and forget me
i dont want to be alone again

I understand. It's always hard when someone important in your life is suddenly no longer there.

It just means we have to value the time we do have them for.

i guess im just tired of it
its hard not to be bitter

You're right.

And it's alright to feel that way. Let it run its course. Trying to fight back that sadness only has a way of bottling it up until later, when it's more difficult to deal with.

My father was the same way.

I imagine there are many for whom that is the case.

He was a great man.

I miss him dearly.

He died, about a year ago now.

One good thing about being here is that it's given me time to reflect on things I might not have been able to otherwise. Time lessens some wounds, I feel, but only if they're given the chance to heal.

[ Well that's not a complicated topic at all.

He settles for something safe, something mostly on the surface. There's more, but nothing he feels comfortable discussing with a relative stranger. ]

He did his best to protect me, but also to teach me about the world. He was brave, and honest, and tried to do what was right.

The people loved him, almost as much as I did. Many felt his loss keenly as well.
