It was four years ago when a black dragon last came to Stormwind.

It wasn't long after that happened that I met Wrathion. Since then, there have been no sightings of other black dragons that I can recall.

What happened to the dragon from four years ago?

I was told the other dragon aspects had to sacrifice a measure of their power to see him defeated, in the end.

There was no other way. Left unchecked, he would have torn our world apart. Quite literally.

I'm glad he was defeated. It sounds like it needed to happen, even if it left Wrathion alone.

It did far more than that.

What happened?

I think it shaped who he is more than anything else.

Or rather, who he chooses not to be.

We cannot choose the bloodline we come from. But it is possible to forge a new legacy, with time.

That dragon was his family?

[massrez]

As I understand, the dragonflights are kin to one another. They can trace their lineage back to the Aspect who leads that particular flight.

They were all his family. And that dragon, Deathwing, was the Aspect of the black dragonflight.

Wrathion's forefather tried to destroy your world.

And he lost control of himself to the city's machinations when he kidnapped you.

For someone to build so much sense of themselves on not being corrupted or controlled in such a way, only to have that taken from them on a whim?

It is little wonder he does not wish to speak of it.

At times, yes. He absolutely is.
